Many local leisure and cultural activities.  Beautifully placed for fishing with easy access to the Nantes/Brest Canal and also the Lac de Glomel where you will find Roach, Tench, Carp and Pike.  Ask us about your temporary licence. Enjoy the canal and its towpath for cycling, walking and canoeing.  The facilities of Kerdeven are a short drive away and visitors to La Fermette are welcome.

 

La Fermette is in a very small but charming hamlet close to the Nantes/Brest canal and approached down a ‘cul de sac’ lane about a mile and a half from Glomel with its’ leisure lake/reservoir with man made beach.  Glomel also has a restaurant, bar, chemist, post office, bakers and mini market. The market town of Rostrenen is just 4 miles via quiet country lanes. The cottage is placed well back from the lane and there is little passing traffic.  It is set amidst the beautiful rolling countryside of central Brittany and right away from the usual tourist trails.  Originally a small farmhouse, the cottage is built of solid stone under a slate roof.  It is an ideal place to retreat from the world in your own cosy environment – but with the convenience of being only a short drive or cycle ride from local amenities.

 

 

The living room is comfortably furnished to a high standard.  There is a Villager wood-burning stove.  Wood is available from the barn opposite.  There is a small charge for unlimited wood during the off season.  During high season, although not strictly necessary, a full wheelbarrow load is supplied.  There is English satellite TV (Sky) with free to view channels, DVD player, video, cassette player, CD player and FM radio.  If you have Sky TV yourselves then you may wish to bring your own card to view a wider range of channels.  The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven and four rings, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave.  The washing machine is in a small utility area in the barn.  Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms.  One has both double and single beds enabling it to be used as a twin if needed.  The other is a double with en suite shower room.  There is a family bathroom.  The electric panel heaters in all rooms supplement the wood burner for off season visits. 

 

 

Outside there is a lovely garden with both sunny and shady areas for various times of the day - and a beautiful weeping cherry tree.  Have lunch beneath its’ shade. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. Beyond the barn and belonging to the cottage is a small field suitable for youngsters to ‘let off steam.’  Although this is a cottage ‘on its own’ we can be contacted by telephone and with you very quickly if needed.
